Therapeutic ultrasound and neuromuscular electrical stimulation for dogs with arthritis?
My dog has arthritis and its vet said she should either get the ultrasound or NDA. I read very mixed reviews and can not see where people have had success with it. It takes tramadol 2X a day (every 12 hours, 50 mg) and 2000mg of fish oil, glucosamine, and sometimes a steroid (medrol 2.5 mg) The vet gave him shots of glucosamine (1 week every day and every seven days, then 2 weeks and so on) It also gave him a stroke pain (can not remember the name) that works, (so she can walk and not be weak hind legs) I also give him baths in the water hot to relax his muscles, heating pads (and you put in the microwave and wet) She eats very well. Please NO rude comments or coarse opinion.
Maybe, I'm sorry that your dog has arthritis, but I'm really glad to hear all the good things you are trying to do to help. I have a 10 year old, going on 11 jack russell and she now has arthritis too. She just had her second shot this week glucosamine and so far so good. She is also taking supplements help, glucosamine, chondroitin, green lips and omega Mussell it has in his dinner every night. I also use a heating pad for her when the weather is cold. Re your question again on the ultrasound, my answer is absolutely yes, you should use. Try to get an ultrasound and infrared that. I'm about to buy the one for me and use on my little dog too. Here is a link to one I am looking to buy: You do not mention what type of dog you have or how big it is. The unit I want to buy 1MHz is that I know will penetrate a few centimeters 3-4 is more than enough for a dog, I would say. You could probably get 2 or even 3 MHz (the latter being about half of 1 cm of penetration). Do not forget the option of acupuncture for your dog. I heard that this is extremely beneficial, especially for pain management. I wish you all the best to obtain the most beneficial treatment for your dog.
